Photo Manipulation and Ethnics

A. When manipulating images, some photographers edit it so much it is almost a completely different photo. Since photoshop is something most people are able to easily have, many people alter photos. Some even merge photos to get the one they want, or completely change the color or people in the photo.
B. The philosophy of newspapers such as Washington Post and New York Times is to not change the colors of the original photo, and you can't merge pictures.
C. I think when editing a photo, you should not completely change the image. I believe it is ok to enhance color (a little) and adjust focus/ make a picture more clear.
D. I think this photo is the most unethical because it gives girls bad body image. Some girls may look at this and think they need to all have large butts, a small waste and smooth thighs even though this is not realistic.Not only that, but she is already a pretty woman and should not need photoshop.

E. I don't think this one is so bad because maybe she wanted to look like she had teeth. The photo is pretty much un-altered except for her teeth which is not a big deal because it does not change her appearance very much.

Academic shoot reflection and critique

1. Some of the challenges I faced while trying to follow the rules during the shoot was, that it was hard to find all of the rules. I thought it would be easy but it was actually kind of hard to find some of them. Not only that but as a photographer, i personally like more of a clear background but you can't do that with academic shoots since their are people everywhere! Lastly, their was not the best lighting since it was in a classroom. 2. I thought the most about the rules since that was what we were out there to do. I also focused on flipping the camera horizontal for some photos that I needed a closer and more full- body picture for. 3. If I could do the shoot again, I would try to get closer to some of the "subjects" to make sure it focuses only on the things I wanted in the photo. 4. The "camera obscura" effect is an optical effect which inside a completely dark room, a small hole is made. Through the hole, light is focused and the optical effect is projected upside down on the opposite wall. 2. When Isaac Newton and Christian Huygens perfected the understanding go optics which helped getting to the modern camera. 3. In 1827, Joseph Niépce added film which pretty much created the modern camera. 4. Modern Cameras still use film and has the same basics except Niépce camera took over 8 hours to expose. 5. digital cameras use electronic sensors called a CCD. to capture a photo.
