1. The photos that Nick Brandt took were astonishing. He was able to capture images that were unique and showed the most beautiful side of the animals. It is sad however that poaching has become such a large issue and that more animals are being killed everyday.
3. This is one of my favorite photos from Brant because it shows the issues of man hunting elephant so perfectly and it shows the devastation it can cause. The clear background really helps showcase this.
4. The rules of photography that are being used in this photo are simplicity, and mergers. the photo shows simplicity because it really shows the deep meaning of the sadness brought to elephants being killed and only shows the man and the tusks with a clear background. The photo shows mergers because it is showing that man is one with the elephant and the tusks are merged with the man.
5. Nick Brandt did not use a telephoto lens which is what most photographers use to get an up-close image but Brant feels that it isn't the same and instead would rather actually be close to his subjects to capture their true personality. This is important because you can't take a photo of someone 100 ft away and manage to capture their personality.
6. The reason that Brant took these photos were to show how moving these animals are and to show the affects of poaching and the killing of these beautiful animals. He wants to show the animals in their state of being before they cease to exist.
7. His hope for taking these pictures is that people will want to help and send money so that these animals can get help. He wants people to help keep these animals from going extinct.
8. "What I am interested in is showing the animals simply in the state of being—before, in the wild at least, they cease to exist. This world is under terrible threat, all of it caused by us." - Nick Brandt
