1. The 58 year old man was killed by an oncoming subway as he was not strong enough to pull himself off the tracks. The photographer took the photo as he was trying to signal the subway with the flash of his camera. 2. The photographer said he took the photo to try to use the flash to stop the subway. 3. I don't think the photographer (Umar Abbasi)should have taken the photo, I think he should have tried to help the man more or done more to stop the subway. 4. I think since he was unable to do much more he did the best with what he was able to do which was attempt to signal the subway. 5. I don't think he should have run the image as a headline because it caused a lot of controversy and the photo shouldn't have even been taken in the first place. 6. 1. Man looks into the light of an oncoming train as he sits blindfolded. The refugees who were kidnapped had to face horrible circumstances. 2. The geese look forward as they see their brand new pond. The geese farm had been in a drought for almost a year with no pond until yesterdays large rain in which the pond filled up. 3.  1. Rule of thirds-  subject is at the far end of the photo.  2. Balancing Elements- two objects balance out the photo to make it look even on both ends. 3. Leading Lines- The photo has lots of lines leading to the subject. 4. Symmetry and Patterns (repetition)- there is a similar pattern throughout the photo. 5. Viewpoint- Taking a photo from a strange angle or up above the subject. 6. Background- Having a clear background that is not chaotic is usually the best for photos (especially for simplicity) 7. Case Study House no.22, Los Angeles a) I chose this image because it looks as if the building is hanging off the side of a mountain or hill, and it has some cool dynamics and lines. b) Julius Shulman took the photo in 1960 which became one of his best works. He took two women in cocktail dresses and had them posed, this later became one of the most successful real estate images. c)There was not additional information but I learned that he has many other works but the Case Study House was the most famous.
